Why Choose a Pediatric Dentist | Tucson, AZ

Why Choose a Pediatric Dentist

Why Choose a Pediatric Dentist?

There are a few different dental options when the time comes for your child to visit the dentist. There are family dentists, or general dentists, and then there are dentists who specialize in a specific area. So, why choose a pediatric dentist? Read more about what makes our dentists at Great Grins Children’s Dentistry so different.

Additional Training

A pediatric dentist takes the same dentistry training as your family dentist, but will have completed additional training that is applicable to children. As a result, a pediatric dentist has the ability to consider your child’s age and temperament as part of the diagnosis and, later, the treatment. Dealing with children is much different from dealing with adults and our dentists understand that. Dr. Wolfman and Dr. Lele are also board-certified, so they have had extensive training that has prepared them to treat children’s dental needs.

Different Environment

A regular dental office is usually extremely quiet and is not tailored to children. When a child walks into an environment like this, it can immediately lead to an uncomfortable feeling. At Great Grins Children’s Dentistry, we have toys and other activities to make the child feel more at home and eliminate stress that he/she may feel before an appointment.

Better Habits

When children learn that the dentist office can be a fun place, they become more likely to listen to the advice of the dentist. This can lead to better oral hygiene habits and all around healthier teeth. Why choose a pediatric dentist for your child? Call Great Grins Children’s Dentistry today at 520-325-4746 to learn more about what makes our office and doctors so great!

Thanks for bringing to my attention that pediatric dentists undergo extra training related to caring for children. My son is getting old enough to visit the dentist now, and I want to find a good clinic so he has a positive first experience. It would give me peace of mind to know that the dentist I chose has extra experience with making kids feel comfortable, so maybe I could find one who specializes in pediatrics.

I like that a pediatric dentist will have additional training like you mentioned. I've heard of some offices that even offer video games in their lobbies so that kids feel more comfortable. The dentist visit turns into something fun instead of something dreaded when you have a good pediatric dentist.

I really like that you mentioned that picking a pediatric dental office is beneficial because they have completed training for working with children. We recently moved to a new area, and we need to find a new pediatric dental office for my kids. I had thought about just taking them to a normal dental office, but I think that having someone who has the extra pediatric training would be better for my kids!

I like how you talked about how pediatric dentists have offices that are a different environment geared toward children. My son is pretty nervous about visiting the dentist, so I want him to feel as comfortable as possible for his first time going. Maybe it would be a good idea to choose a pediatric dentist so the environment suits him better.

It is wise to encourage your kids to have a good dental practice early in their lives reinforces this habit and would make it easier for you in the long run. I agree that just making a visit to the dentist as some great adventure could help them get used to it. Don't forget to give them rewards when they show a good behavior during the whole ordeal. Thanks for the great read!

  7. My daughter needs to go to the dentist, and she gets anxiety. I like what you suggested about being careful with your words. It makes sense that any negative words could make her feel more scared, so I will make sure to talk about the dentist in a positive way.
